Dr. Jens Wollenweber leads Staedtler-Logistics Services

Generation Change in Outsourcing Services

Nuremberg, June 30, 2011 – The Logistics Services department at Staedtler-Logistics (Dr. Städtler Transport Consulting GmbH & Co. KG) has new management: 36-year-old Dr. Jens Wollenweber takes over leadership from Dietrich Dieckhoff, who after 37 years of employment with the company is going into retirement.

Before coming to Nuremberg’s long-established logistic service provider in April of this year, Dr. Jens Wollenweber lead the Decision Support System department at the Fraunhofer team for Supply Chain Services (SCS) from 2008 to 2011. The logistics and supply chain expert with a Masters of Business Informatics and Doctorate of Operations Research worked in the area of strategy consulting for medium-sized companies before working at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. 2003-2008 saw Wollenweber as a research associate on the chair for optimization of distribution networks for Deutsche Post at Aachen University, where he did his doctoral thesis on location optimization in the reverse supply chain.

“People seem to think that invoice checking belongs in the accounting department, but logistic tariff structures are complex and if special charges and surcharges are added, errors can often only be found by an expert,” says Wollenweber. “I am excited about providing logistics services with a team of experienced professionals who not only relieve customers of the task of invoice checking, but also save them unnecessary costs – often resulting in long term cost saving.”

Experts find the errors

The importance of the area of logistic services is rising with the increasing transport costs. Staedtler-Logistics, with fifty years of industry experience and a complete palette of in-house developed specialized software, is an especially strong partner for outsourcing of checking and invoicing tasks. The logistic services department has been largely designed and developed by Dietrich Dieckhoff, who now passes on the leadership to Wollenweber, since 2003. From the end of the eighties till 2003, Dieckhoff lead the departments of consulting and logistic software development and marketing.

“Long-lasting customer relationships in the area of freight checking speak in favor of the excellent work performed by the service department,” says Michael Reichle, managing director of Staedtler-Logistics. “We are very happy to have found an outstanding logistics professional for the leadership of this department in Dr. Wollenweber, and wish our esteemed Dietrich Dieckhoff all the best in his retirement.”
